Marieberg's IK

Mariebergs IK was a Swedish sports club from Stockholm .

history

Mariebergs IK was founded in 1902. In the following years the athletes , soccer and bandy players of the club stood out. Olympic champion John Zander in particular represented the club as a track and field athlete, but other athletes such as Ephraim Levin were also successful as multiple Swedish champions. The footballers took part regularly - albeit unsuccessfully - in the Svenska Mästerskapet and three times in the game for the Wicanderska Välgörenhetsskölden , but each remained without a title. The club also played in the Svenska series as the successor to Vikingarnas FK for a short time during the 1911/12 season, but the competition was not played to the end. With Sven Ohlsson , Gustaf Carlson , Herbert Svensson , Einar Halling-Johansson , Sixten Öberg , Knut Gustavsson and Helmer Lundberg , the club has provided several different selection players to the Swedish national team over the years . When the Allsvenskan was introduced, the club was classified in the then unofficial Swedish league pyramid in the second division, from which the team was relegated in 1927. In the bandy, too, the club was one of the top national teams and was in the semi-finals of the championship in 1919.

In the 1920s, the individual departments of the Marieberg IK gradually dissolved, so that the club was dissolved towards the end of the decade.
