Mariella Frostrup (born November 12, 1962 in Oslo , Norway ) is a journalist , presenter , voice-over artist and writer .

Life

Mariella Frostrup was born in Oslo in 1962 as the daughter of the Norwegian journalist Peter Frostrup and a Scottish artist. In 1969 the family moved to Ireland Kilmacanogue , where her father for the The Irish Times worked. The mother separated from the alcoholic father when Mariella Frostrup was eight years old. After the father's next relationship failed, Frostrup moved back to Dublin with him. The father died when Mariella Frostrup was 15 years old.

Eight months after his death, she moved to London in 1978 , where she soon worked for Parlophone Records . She then worked as a public relations manager for Phonogram Records between 1980 and 1990 and organized, among other things, the PR work for Live Aid 1985.

From the end of the 1980s she took over the moderation of various television programs such as The Little Picture Show , Frostrup on Sunday , Breakfast with Frost , Mariella's Book Show and Panorama . On the radio, she moderates, among other things, the program Open Book on BBC Radio 4 . Frostrup is known for her distinctive voice and is regularly booked as a speaker. So she spoke the off-texts in various short and documentary films and was also engaged for the announcements of the London Overground . She also writes for various publications, including The Guardian and The Observer .

Frostrup was first married to the skids singer Richard Jobson from 1979 to 1984 . While on a charity tour through Nepal , she met the lawyer Jason McCue, whom she married two years later. The marriage resulted in two children, a daughter and a son. The family lives in London.
