As apparitions of Zeitoun one is Marian apparition in Zeitoun (also az-Zaytūn ), a district of Cairo in Egypt referred to, which is said to have taken place there repeatedly in the years 1968 to 1,971th

For the first time on April 2, 1968, a crowd of people on the roof of the local Coptic St. Mary's Church is said to have seen a woman in white light with a halo who formed from a ball of light for several minutes. This event is said to have been repeated for a few minutes a week later and more frequently - sometimes two to three times a week - until the end of 1971. Flying doves made of light are also said to have appeared. Photos of these phenomena were also published in the press, among other things.

On May 4, 1968, the Coptic Patriarch declared Kirellos VI. the appearances to be credible and published the following statement:

“The Apostolic See hereby proclaims with absolute faith and certainty, with joy and thanks to Almighty God, that the holy and blessed Mother of Light appeared in a clear and clearly delineated form on several nights - and continues to appear […] until today Day. This happened in the Coptic Orthodox Church named after her on Toman Bey Street in Zeitoun, Cairo. This church lies on the path that the Holy Family took during their stay in Egypt. "

April 2nd is the day of remembrance of the apparition in Zeitoun in the Coptic Church.

The Bishop's Church of the Coptic Diocese for Austria and German-speaking Switzerland in Vienna was placed under the patronage of the Blessed Virgin of Zeitoun in memory of the apparition of Mary .
