Marian column (Český Krumlov)
The Marian Column in Český Krumlov (German Krummau ), a town in the Jihočeský kraj (South Bohemia) region in the Czech Republic , was built in 1716. The Marian column on the market square has been a protected cultural monument since 1958.
The plague column is dedicated to the Mother of God , who is set up as a crescent Madonna with child on a high Corinthian column. Important saints of the Bohemian Kingdom are depicted on the base. The surrounding fountain was first mentioned in the fire protection and police regulations issued by Johann I. von Rosenberg in April 1388.
