The Marian column in Racibórz (Ratibor) on the ring is a statue from the 18th century.

Description and history

The late baroque from sandstone existing sculpture with rich decorative figures has been 1725 to 1727 by the Austrian sculptor Johann Melchior Austrian created. The column was donated by Countess Gashin. It was created as a thank you after surviving two cholera epidemics in Racibórz in 1708 and 1715.

The statue is 14 meters high. On the base decorated with volutes there are figures of saints and putti . Finally, above the substructure there is a cloud column with angel heads on which the figure of Mary is enthroned.
