The former building of the Marienschule in Mönchengladbach ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) is in the Gladbach district at Wallstrasse 10-12.

It was built in 1895 and was entered in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach on September 13, 1988 under No. W 018 . From its completion until 1987, the building was used by the eponymous Episcopal Marienschule Mönchengladbach .

Wallstraße lies in the area of ​​the upper town directly parallel to the old ramparts and today, as a pedestrian zone, connects the main shopping street Hindenburgstraße with the intersection of Viersener Straße, Kaiserstraße and Marktstieg. The surrounding former school grounds were built with the Marienhof shopping center after the school moved out .

The former Marienschule is a three-story building complex in free forms of brick Gothic . In 1895 the first school wing, the western half of today's old building, was inaugurated. In 1910 the extension took place. In 1913 the school expansion was completed with the construction of a chapel .

The Marienschule is an important contemporary document for the cultural, urban and social history of Mönchengladbach in the broadest sense and is therefore worthy of protection as a monument .
