The Marie Street in Hof (Saale) is located in the Mitte district, between the hamlets of downtown in the East and West in the West. It is an important north-south traffic axis and is part of the old road from Hof to Wunsiedel in the south and Schleiz in the north.
history
Most of the buildings on the street date from the Wilhelminian era. The Q-Bogen, a railway bridge in the south of the street, was built in 1880 for the new through station Hof Hauptbahnhof .
Todays use
Marienstrasse is one of the most important streets in Hof. Today it is mainly used by through traffic and city buses.
A protracted criticism is the lack of bike paths. Cyclists are therefore forced to use the road. There have been several discussions about planting trees to transform it into an avenue.
In the rear area, private traffic can only drive from south to north, as the left lane is a bus lane. Individual traffic coming from the north is routed via Poststrasse and Kreuzsteinstrasse.
The Old Town School is located at the intersection of Marienstraße / Luitpoldstraße. It is a branch of the Schiller-Gymnasium .
At the youth center at the Q-Bogen there is a webcam that films the Q-Bogen and Marienstraße.
