Marigaon is a city in the Indian state of Assam .

The city is the capital of the Marigaon district . Marigaon has the status of a municipal board . The city is divided into 8 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census, it had 29,164 inhabitants, of which 14,793 were men and 14,371 women. Hindus make up the majority of the city's population with a share of over 77%. Muslims form a minority of over 21%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 89.4%, well above the national average. 15.1% belong to the Scheduled Tribes .

Marigaon Station is on the main Guwahati – Lumding line under the Indian Railways' Northeast Frontier Railway zone .
