Marija Kolak

Marija Kolak (* 1970 in Đakovo ) is a Croatian-German business economist. She is President of the Federal Association of German Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks (BVR).

Life

Marija Kolak studied business administration at the Free University of Berlin with a degree in business administration. From 1998 she worked for the Berliner Volksbank before joining the Federal Association of German Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks as Head of Marketing in 2012 . In 2015 she was appointed to the board of the Berliner Volksbank. In 2016 she took part in the two-month Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School . After the resignation of BVR President Uwe Fröhlich in autumn 2017, Kolak was appointed as his successor by the BVR Board of Directors.

Kolak belongs to the Roman Catholic Church and was active in the Croatian Mission in Berlin for a long time, including as chairwoman of the community council. On August 6, 2020, Pope Francis appointed her as one of six women, including Charlotte Kreuter-Kirchhof , as a member of the Vatican Economic Council .
