Marija Witaljewna Wertschenowa ( Russian Мария Витальевна Верченова , English transcription Maria Verchenova ; born March 27, 1986 in Moscow , Soviet Union ) is a Russian professional golfer .
Maria Wertschenowa attended a Moscow ballet school in her childhood and dreamed of a career as a ballerina at the famous Bolshoi Theater . She started playing golf at the age of twelve.
Professional career
Marija Wertschenowa became a professional golfer in December 2006 and gained full eligibility to play for the Ladies European Tour 2007 through qualification .
Previously top placements reached Wertschenowa at the Wales Ladies Championship 2007 (shared 10th place), at the Tenerife Ladies Open 2008 (shared 5th place) and at the Dubai Ladies Pro-Am 2009 (shared 8th place).
Marija Witaljewna Wertschenowa was born to Galina and Vitali Wertschenowa and has a sister named Anna.
