Marije Cornelissen (born March 9, 1974 in Stiens ) is a Dutch politician .

Life

Cornelissen grew up in an atheist family. After finishing school, she studied politics and international relations at the University of Utrecht . Cornelissen has been politically active in the GroenLinks party since the 1990s . In 1996/1997 she worked for the European politician Nel van Dijk . In 2009 Cornelissen was elected to the European Parliament, where she is a member of The Greens / European Free Alliance in the European Parliament . Cornelissen is a member of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs , the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality and in the Delegation to the EU-Croatia Joint Parliamentary Committee and the Delegation for relations with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro as well as Kosovo . Cornelissen is deputy in the Committee on Foreign Affairs .
