Naval Section Command East

The Naval Section Command East (MAKdo Ost) was a support association of the German Navy , which was set up on January 1, 1995 and dissolved on June 30, 2001. The MAKdo Ost was located in Rostock . It was led by a commander in the rank of sea ​​captain .

Mission and organization

The naval section command east emerged from the former Rostock naval command , in which parts taken over from the GDR People's Navy had been dissolved or reorganized. The MAKdo Ost was subordinate to the naval support command and was responsible for the management of logistic facilities, bases, depots and transport forces in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania area .

History of subordinate units

Naval base Peenemünde

The Peenemünde naval base command was set up by order of March 8, 1991 and placed under the Rostock naval command. It served as a berth for decommissioned ships and boats of the People's Navy. After it was disposed of, it was closed on March 31, 1996.

Naval Transport Battalion 3rd

The Marine Transport Battalion 3 was set up in Bad Sülze by order of March 4, 1991 and initially placed under the Rostock Marine Command. After the change of subordination under the Naval Section Command East on January 1, 1995, the battalion was disbanded on September 30, 1998.

Marine material depot 3

The naval material depot 3 was set up on April 1, 1991 in the naval base Hohe Düne and placed under the command of the Warnemünde naval base. With effect from January 1, 1995, it was directly under the Naval Section Command East. It was disbanded on December 31, 1998.

Marine detachment depot goods

The Naval Absteuerungsdepot Waren bei Waren an der Müritz was used to store old NVA material and to recycle it. After completing this task, it was closed in 1996.

Naval ammunition depot 5

The naval ammunition depot 5 in Seltz south of Greifswald was used to store old NVA ammunition. From there it was handed in for dismantling. After completing this task, it was closed in 1998.
