Marineland (official name Marineland of Canada Inc. ) is a marine theme park in Niagara Falls ( Ontario ), Canada . The park was opened in 1961 under the name Niagara Game Farm , still without today's attractions . Originally the park was a small zoo. A few years later, the park was renamed Niagara Marineland And Game Farm , and it also received some marine attractions. In the 1980s, the park received a new main attraction with the Orca Kandu . At this point the park was renamed Niagara Marineland again . At this time, the first roller coasters were built in the park.
Animals
- Friendship Cove : The largest water basin for whales in the world, in which you can watch the animals above and below the water. Friendship Cove is currently home to an orca (Kiska).
- Arctic Cove : a habitat for beluga whales and opened in 2004. Marineland currently owns over twenty beluga whales (female beluga whales: Jubilee, Xena, Isis, Osiris, Kelowna, Sierra, Peekachu, Skyla, Charmin, Peanut, Oceanna, Caspian, Gemini, Cleopatra and Maple. Male beluga whales: Orion, Burnaby, Tuk, Andre, Beyli, Tofino, Horus and Kodiak).
