action

Princess Peach tried Prof. I. Gidd's new time machine to visit her younger self. When the time machine reappears, but without the princess, Mario and Luigi set out to find her. A so-called vortex of time appears in the garden of the palace, which takes people back into the past. Mario and Luigi use it to save the princess. Back in the past, it turns out that shroobs , toadstool-like aliens, are tyrannizing the entire kingdom. After some turmoil, Mario and Luigi meet their younger versions, Baby Mario and Baby Luigi. Together they set out to drive away the shroobs. This turns out to be difficult because Bowser's younger self, Baby Bowser , and his henchman Kamek, like the brothers, also want to get the cobalt star splinters that the heroes need for the return trip. Also the leader of the Shroobs, Princess Shroob doesn't make it easy for the heroes. In addition, Baby Bowser meets his adult self in the course of the game.
