Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games is a sports simulation released by Japanese company Nintendo in 2011 for Wii and 2012 for Nintendo 3DS . It is the third title in the Mario & Sonic series and the successor to Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics . It is a video game with the main characters Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog , who appear in competitions at the Olympic Games. In 2013 the successor Mario & Sonic appeared at the Winter Olympics: Sochi 2014 .
Gameplay
The player can try his hand at 50 events in the game, which are divided into eleven different areas. These areas include B. Athletics, water sports and various boating sports. Every sport uses the functions of Nintendo 3DS. In 100m freestyle swimming, you tap the touchscreen to swim really fast in the pool. The motion sensor is also used when aiming with the console during archery and moving it by pushing and pulling while rowing.
Sales
The Wii version of this computer game sold 2.4 million copies in Europe and North America in the first two months of its release.
reception
Computer Bild said about the game that the 2012 edition was the "best and most extensive part of the series so far" and the simple and intuitive one. The newspaper counts the game as one of the best Wii games of 2011.
