Mario Bichtemann

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mario Bichtemann (* presumably 1966 ; † October 30, 2002 in Dessau ) was a homeless man who died in a custody cell in the cellar of the Wolfgangstrasse 25 service building of the Dessau-Roßlau police station in Saxony-Anhalt .

The circumstances of Bichtemann's death are unclear. On the evening of October 29, 2002, he was apparently intoxicated, picked up by police officers and taken to the Dessau police station. Fifteen hours later, he was found dead in his cell with a fractured skull base.

A criminal case against the head of the department Andreas S. and another police officer was discontinued. It was about the suspicion of the negligent homicide of Mario Bichtemann. The case gained notoriety after it became known that Bichtemann died in the same cell number 5 in the district in which Oury Jalloh was burned three years later . In this case, too, Andreas S. was the head of the department.
