Mario Borgoni (* 24 July 1869 in Pesaro , † 1936 in Naples ) was an Italian painter, illustrator and commercial artist .

Borgoni studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples with Ignazio Perricci (1834–1907). Some time later he took over the chair for decorative painting.

He devoted himself to both relay and stage painting. He was friends with the painter Domenico Morelli .

At the beginning of the 20th century he began to design posters, postcards and suitcase stickers for the Neapolitan company Richter & Co. freelance. In 1906 he became the company's artistic director.

His works were designed in the style of Art Deco . Only the inscriptions showed an Art Nouveau influence .

Borgoni's style soon became Richter's trademark and symbol of his success, easily recognizable and therefore often copied by others.
