Mario Borzaga

Mario Borzaga OMI (born August 27, 1932 in Trento , † May 1960 in Laos ) was an Italian Oblate Missionary to the Immaculate Virgin Mary . He is a blessed of the Catholic Church.

Life

Mario Borzaga entered the so-called “minor seminary” as a child with the aim of becoming a priest. Addressed by a life as a missionary, he began the novitiate with the Oblate Missionaries. After studying theology and being ordained a priest, he was sent to Laos as a missionary . After a short time he was murdered together with his catechist Paul Thoj Xyooj Paj Lug on a missionary trip.

beatification

The beatification process for Mario Borzaga OMI began in 2008.

On December 11, 2016, Mario Borzaga was beatified by Cardinal Orlando Quevedo OMI together with Paul Thoj Xyooj Paj Lug and 15 other martyrs in Vientiane .
