Mario Antonio Cáceres (born March 17, 1981 in Santiago de Chile ) is a Chilean football player .

Career

Mario Cáceres learned to play football in his native Chile at CD Ñublense , where he was under contract from 1999 to 2000 and received his first appearances in the Chilean championship. In 2000 he went to the Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon , where he only played in one game and then returned to Chile. He went to CSD Colo-Colo , where he was under contract for six years, but was rarely used. He then moved to Unión Española in 2006 and proved his qualities there with several goals. In August 2008 he was bought by FC St. Gallen , with whom he was promoted to the Super League for the 2009/10 season .
