Mario Campanacci

Mario Campanacci (born January 13, 1932 in Parma , † January 16, 1999 in Bologna ) was an Italian tumor orthopedist.

Life

Campanacci studied medicine at the University of Bologna . Having trained in orthopedics, traumatology and pathology from 1955, he joined the Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli as an assistant in 1958 . From 1963 he headed the research laboratory for tumor pathology. Since 1975 Professor, he received in 1980 a professorship in clinical orthopedics . As head of the postgraduate school, he took up the chair in 1983 . As a member of 13 international specialist societies, he founded the European Musculo-Skeletal Oncology Society in Vedelago in 1987 . Campanacci was president for the first three years. As a recognized expert in the difficult field of bone tumors , he wrote 370 publications and seven books.
