Mario Candeias (2012)

Mario Candeias (* 1969 in West Berlin ) is a German political scientist and has been director of the Institute for Social Analysis of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation in Berlin since 2013 . His main research interests are the organic crisis of financial market capitalism and radical strategies of socio-ecological transformation .

Life

Candeias first studied political science at the Free University of Berlin . He finished his studies in 1994 with a diploma. He then worked in the interdisciplinary research group “Transformation Processes in an Interdependent World” under the direction of Elmar Altvater at the Free University of Berlin and at the Institute for Social Research and Business Education eV as well as a lecturer at the Free University of Berlin. From 2000 to 2003 he was a doctoral scholarship holder of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and in 2004 he learned about “Neoliberalism - High Technology - Hegemony. Outlines of a transnational way of production and life. A Critique ”. From 2004 to 2007 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Sociology at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . He has been with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation since 2007. He is editor of the RLS magazine LuXemburg and the magazine Das Argument and works on the historical-critical dictionary of Marxism . Candeias was a member of Alliance 90 / The Greens , which he left in 1998. In 2012 he joined the party Die Linke in connection with a public appeal .
