Mariusz Kruk

Mariusz Kruk (* 1952 in Poznan ) is a Polish painter and installation artist .

life and work

Mariusz Kruk studied painting with Jerzy Kałucki at the Art Academy in Poznan until 1982 . After graduating, Kruk founded the artist group Koło Klipsa together with Piotr Kurka . Members were Leszek Knaflewski , Krzysztof Markowski and Wojciech Kujawski. Since 1987 Mariusz Kruk distanced himself from Koło Klipsa and became known for his spatial objects. After the solo exhibition not quite at home in the Center for Contemporary Art in Ujazdów Palace in Warsaw (1991) and participation in documenta IX (1992) in Kassel, Mariusz Kruk moved to Paris in 1994. He turned away from installations, and focused again on more traditional techniques, painting, pastel painting and watercolor . Mariusz Kruk made fairy-tale landscapes, ornaments, mythical animals and organic shapes his subject. Since 2002 Kruk has been living and working in Poznan again.
