Markéta Hejkalová
Markéta Hejkalová (born February 29, 1960 in Prague ) is a Czech publisher , writer , translator and founder and director of the Autumn Book Fair.
Life
Hejkalova studied Finnish and Russian at Charles University in Prague. Then she was an editor at a state publishing house. She wrote a book about Mika Waltari . She is the director of the autumn book fair in Havlíčkův Brod , which she founded in 1991 , the second largest book fair in the Czech Republic.
In 1994 she and her husband Martin founded the Hejkal publishing house, which she runs and which has published 50 books. From 1996 to 1999 she was consul and cultural attachée at the Czech embassy in Helsinki. She has been working for the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2009.
Hejkalová is the Vice-President of the Czech PEN Center, Chair of the Committee of Writing Prisoners and an active member of the International PEN
She wrote novels, short stories, non-fiction and a children's book. She has translated books from Finnish, Russian and English into Czech.
