Mark-Andreas Schlingensiepen (* 1956 in Bradford ) is a German conductor and composer and has been the artistic director of notabu.ensemble neue musik , based in Düsseldorf, for almost 25 years .

He has worked with numerous orchestras across Europe and has given concerts worldwide. In addition to contemporary music, which led to the collaboration with Friedrich Cerha , Heinz Holliger , Beat Furrer , Manfred Trojahn and many others, a special focus of his work is live music for silent films.

He wrote scores for Battleship Potemkin , Berlin - The Symphony of the Big City , Faust - a German folk tale , The Student of Prague , Madame Dubarry , Emak Bakia , L'Étoile de mer , which are either based on piano reductions of the original music or pursue new approaches . In addition, Schlingensiepen has so far mainly written chamber music works, such as the dance of death based on a picture wall by Felix Seiler , published by Ries & Erler Musikverlag.
