Franz Xaver Brandmayr
Franz Xaver Brandmayr (born March 11, 1956 in Wels ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and rector of the Pontifical Institute Santa Maria dell'Anima in Rome and at the same time of their brotherhood.
Life
Brandmayr grew up as the eldest of three sons of a family of chemists in Marchtrenk, Upper Austria, and attended the Jesuit boarding school on Freinberg in Linz . He first studied law in Vienna and joined the Jesuit order after the 1979 judicial year . He then studied philosophy and theology in Munich and Rome. In 1986 he was ordained a priest in Vienna by Cardinal Franz König . He then completed a licensed degree in canon law in Rome. At his request he was dismissed from the order in May 1993 and worked from December 1993 to January 2008 as a pastor in the Archdiocese of Vienna in the parish of St. Gertrud / Währing and as a judge at the diocesan and metropolitan courts.
Franz Xaver Brandmayr was the leader of several beatification processes, such as those of Father Petrus Pavlicek and Hildegard Burjan . He was in the organization of the beatification process of I. Emperor Karl involved.
For many years he was a national chaplain of the Academic Association of Catholic-Austrian Landsmannschaften and is a member of the KAV Merkenstein Vienna . He is the spiritual assistant of the "Kaiser Karl Prayer League for Peace among Nations".
Franz Xaver Brandmayr was founded in 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed as successor to Johann Hörist as rector of the papal priests college Santa Maria dell'Anima (Pontificio Istituto Teutonico Santa Maria dell'Anima). In 2008 he took office; In 2014, his term of office was extended for a further six years. At the same time he was rector of the Brotherhood of Santa Maria dell'Anima. During his tenure, he had extensive restoration work carried out in the sacristy and college, but above all the interior renovation of the Church of Santa Maria dell'Anima . Michael Max will succeed him as Rector on September 1, 2020 . Brandmayr will succeed Karl Pichelbauer as Provost of Wiener Neustadt in autumn 2020 .
He has been in talks for episcopal offices several times, such as in Salzburg (2014), Linz (2014) and Graz (2015).
