Volkmar Staub (born June 8, 1952 in Brombach ) is a German cabaret artist and author.

biography

Staub started out as a songwriter while studying social work . In 1978 he played his first cabaret program with Werner Klenk . Together with Klenk he founded the Freiburg scene cabaret Riebyse and Buurepunk . In 1983 Staub performed his first solo program Oops, my point of view hops up, and in 1983 he also performed with the Ensemble Din a Dry . Dust performed seven solo programs until 1993, and in the 1980s he also presented the Nachschlag program with Matthias Deutschmann . In 1996 he appeared together with Werner Klenk as the duo Zwei Richtige under the direction of Heinrich Pachl , the duo's next program presented the two as heroes . Since then he has been touring Germany again with various solo programs. In his solo appearances he also presents numbers that he originally wrote for other cabaret artists, such as Reiner Kröhnert or the Düsseldorfer Kom (m) ödchen . The radio station SWR4 together with Staub produced a seven-part radio play “Heidi in the Black Forest”, which was broadcast in January 2007. Staub, who wrote the piece, is also its speaker at the same time.

Since 2004, Staub has performed annually in a duet with Florian Schroeder . Staub's trademark is his artful change of words; the Frankfurter Rundschau therefore called him a "word game philosopher" among political cabaret artists. Dust's adopted home has been Berlin since 1988 .

In 2018, after 15 years of joint appearances with Florian Schroeder, the "encore", the cabaret review of the year, will take place for the last time in this form. From now on, the two artists will work up separate annual reviews in cabaret.
