Mark Coplestone Bampfylde, 7th Baron Poltimore (born June 8, 1957 ) is a British peer and non-party politician.

life and career

Bampfylde was born on June 8, 1957 as the son of Captain Anthony Gerard Hugh Bampfylde (1920-1969) and his wife Brita Yvonne Cederström as one of three siblings. He attended Radley College . He later worked for Christie's auction house . There he was Associate Director of the Image Department in 1984 . From 1987 to 1997 he was director and head of the department for 19th century images. At Christie's Australia plc , he was Chairman ( Chairman ) from 1997 to 2000 and Deputy Chairman ( Deputy Chairman ) of Christie's Europe from 1998 to 2000 . From 2000 to 2002 Bampfylde was Managing Director (Md) of the e-auction room .

He then worked at Sotheby’s . In 2002 he was Senior Director . From 2004 to 2006 he was chairman for 19th and 20th century images. At Sotheby's UK he was chairman from 2006 to 2008. Since 2008 he has been chairman of Sotheby's Russia and vice chairman of Sotheby's Europe . Bampfylde was also chairman of the UK Friends of Bundanon .

Bampfylde does not belong to the Hereditary Peerage Association . He owns the Court Hall estate , now a hotel.

Membership in the House of Lords

After the death of his grandfather Hugh Bampfylde, 6th Baron Poltimore in 1978, he inherited the title of Baron Poltimore and the then associated seat in the House of Lords . On November 25, 1986, he gave his inaugural address.

He lost his seat through the House of Lords Act 1999 . He did not run for one of the remaining seats. He is not on the Register of Hereditary Peers .

family

On June 12, 1982, Bampfylde married Sally Anne Miles, the daughter of Dr. Norman Miles. They have three children, a daughter and two sons.
