Mark John Cueto (born December 26, 1979 in Workington , Cumbria ) is an English rugby union player . He plays as the outside three quarters or goalkeeper for the England team and the Sale Sharks .

Cueto started rugby at the age of five until he devoted himself to football as a teenager . At 17 he went back to rugby. In 2001 he made his debut in the Guinness Premiership . In 2003 and 2004 he played with England A, the reserve of the national team, at the Churchill Cup . In a total of ten games for this team, he put five attempts . As a result, he was also nominated for the actual national team. He was part of the British and Irish Lions Tour to New Zealand and played once against the All Blacks .

In the 2007 World Cup final , Cueto was close to making the decisive attempt, but his left foot just touched the sideline. England ultimately lost to South Africa . After the World Cup he was not nominated for the national team for a long time until he returned due to very good performance at the Sale Sharks.

Cueto is one of five players to have scored more than 50 attempts in the English championship.
