Mark Eden (guitarist)

Mark Eden (* on the Isle of Wight ) is a British guitarist and music teacher.

Eden studied guitar with Colin Downs and Michael Lewin at the Royal Academy of Music and received the Julian Bream Prize and the Principal's Prize for Achievement . While still a student, he founded the Eden Stell Guitar Duo with Christopher Stell in 1989 . With a scholarship from the Worshipful Company of Musicians, both completed their training with the Brazilian guitar duo Sergio and Odair Assad in Brussels.

The duo performed in Park Lane Group's Young Artists 'Concert Series , won the South East Musicians' Platform competition , performed in concerts with the Prague Chamber Orchestra and the International Philharmonic Orchestra , and took part in concerts by the Guitar Foundation of America (2009) , the Omni Foundation Concert Series in San Francisco (2010), the London Guitar Festival (2008-9) and the Alla Grande Festival in Canada (2009). Composers such as Stephen Dodgson (1924–2013), Adam Gorb , Dušan Bogdanović , Gary Ryan and Johannes Möller wrote for the duo, and several CDs have appeared on the labels BSG , Hannsler Classics and Docker . In 2007, Eden and Stell founded the Vida Guitar Quartet .

Eden teaches at the Birmingham Conservatoire and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama , is Artistic Director of the Winchester Guitar Festival and the World Youth Guitar Festival . In 2000 he was named an Honorary Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
