Mark Hosking

Mark Hosking (* 1971 in Plymouth , England ) is an English contemporary artist .

life and work

Hosking attended the Plymouth College of Art & Design from 1989 to 1990 , from which he graduated with a diploma. He then graduated from the Chelsea College of Art and Design from 1990 to 1993 , from which he graduated with a bachelor's degree. After further studies from 1993 to 1996 at the Slade School of Art , he passed the Master of Fine Arts . Hosking also studied from 1997 to 1999 at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam .

Mark Hosking puts everyday objects such as televisions or bikinis in a new context in order to thwart their consumer status. He provides absurd machines made of garbage with political statements by trying to visualize the contrasts between industrialized nations and third world countries.

Hosking lives and works in London and Amsterdam.
