Mark Anthony Kinsella (born August 12, 1972 in Dublin ) is a former Irish football player and current football coach , who was last active as a player for FC Walsall .

career

Clubs as players

Kinsella spent his youth at the amateur club from Dublin Home Farm, where players like Ian Harte and Richard Dunne had already started their careers. In 1989 he moved to Colchester United . He played for the club for seven years. For a transfer fee of £ 150,000, Charlton Athletic signed the 1.75 meter tall midfielder in 1996 . In the next six years, 1996-2002, he completed 208 league games. In 2002, he left Charlton Athletic and joined Aston Villa . There he was active until 2004 before moving to West Bromwich Albion , where he only played briefly. Kinsella's last stop was FC Walsall. He played here between 2004 and 2006 before ending his playing career.

Clubs as coaches

In 2006, Kinsella took over the position of "Development Coach" at Charlton Athletic. He takes care of the promotion and development of young players in the club. From November 2008 to January 2011 he was Phil Parkinson's assistant on the club's first team. In September 2012 he became Joe Dunne's assistant at Colchester United . He held this office until September 2014. In November 2014, he became John McDonnell's assistant at Drogheda United . After his release, he was head coach for two months. At the end of 2015 he left the club.

National team

Kinsella made his first international match for Ireland in 1998 . During his tenure as a national player, he played 48 games and scored three goals. Kinsella took part with Ireland in the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea , but Ireland failed in the second round to Spain.
