Mark O'Brien (born September 16, 1987 in Horsham ) is a retired Australian track and road cyclist .

Athletic career

Mark O'Brien won the 2004 Oceania Championship team pursuit in the junior class. In 2005 he was second in the team pursuit and in Madison at the national junior track cycling championship . In the same year he also won the overall ranking of the Tour of the Souther Grampians. In 2007 O'Brien moved to the Australian Professional Continental Team Drapac Porsche . In his first season there he was second overall on the Tour of the Souther Grampians, and at the Herald Sun Tour , he finished second in the junior ranking. In 2009 he was third in the national road championship. In 2012 and 2016 he won the bronze medal of the Oceania Championships in road racing.

In 2016, Mark O'Brien retired as a contract athlete, but continued to compete in national races. In 2020, he finished tenth at the Australian Road Championship. Professionally he works as a cycling trainer ( as of 2020 ).
