Mark Van Raamsdonk

Mark Van Raamsdonk (born June 12, 1973 ) is a theoretical physicist who has been a professor at the University of British Columbia since 2002 . He had previously been a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University since 2000 , after completing his PhD with Washington Taylor at Princeton University from 1995 . Van Raamsdonk completed his undergraduate studies in mathematics and physics at the University of British Columbia.

Van Raamsdonk started working on the connection between quantum mechanics and gravity during a sabbatical in 2009 . 2010, his essay "Building up spacetime with quantum entanglement" was released (German: "Structure of the space-time by quantum entanglement ") that the annual essay contest of the first prize Gravity Research Foundation was awarded.
