The fortified old core of the place is located south of the Fröschnitz, which flows from east to west. The central street, running from east to west, is called Wiener Straße, Hauptplatz, and Grazer Straße, the latter continuing in a southerly direction after the former market fortification. The formerly fortified Gothic parish church of Mürzzuschlag stands north of the Fröschnitz on the western edge of the former market fortification.
