Wilhelm Martini

Wilhelm Martini (* 1880 in Bielefeld ; † 1965 ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Martini was a student at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Karl Janssen . He designed fountains for the city garden in Gelsenkirchen and the sculptures Dying and Mourning (in the Düsseldorf Art Museum ). Some of his works have male or female nudes as the theme, others have titles such as Upward Looking Soldier (1918) or Relay Runner (1934). In the 1920s and 1930s in particular, he produced numerous bronzes.

Martini was a member of the artists 'association Das Junge Rheinland and the artists' association Malkasten .

Little is known about the artist in literature. His written estate is in the Heinrich Heine Institute .
