Markus Hausweiler (born April 15, 1976 in Neuss ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Hausweiler moved from VfR Neuss to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1988 and played 91 Bundesliga games for the team from the Lower Rhine during this time . He scored 5 goals, the last against Borussia Dortmund on matchday two of the 2004/05 season . His time at Borussia ended ingloriously when he was excluded from training with the first team in spring 2005 by the Mönchengladbach coach Dick Advocaat, together with his teammates Marcelo Pletsch and Igor Demo . This was preceded by misconduct by the players. Hausweiler could not calm down at first about this decision and intensified his allegations in the direction of his coach, who, in his opinion, had ignored him.

In July 2005, Hausweiler joined MSV Duisburg on a free transfer . Although Hausweiler had a contract there until June 30, 2008, he played his last game on August 28, 2005, because he was diagnosed with cartilage damage as a sports invalid.

Hausweiler is currently the coordinator for youth scouting at Borussia Mönchengladbach.
