Markus Hohenwarter

Markus Hohenwarter (born May 24, 1976 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian mathematician and professor at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz . He is head of the Institute for Mathematics Didactics .

Life

As part of his university education (applied computer science and mathematics teaching degree ), he developed the mathematical teaching software GeoGebra , which has won numerous software prizes in Europe and the USA (Tech Award). Hohenwarter taught at a grammar school and worked on numerous projects for teacher training in Austria, England and the USA. After completing his dissertation at the University of Salzburg (2006), he worked at Florida Atlantic University and Florida State University . On February 1, 2010 he was appointed university professor at the Institute for Didactics of Mathematics at the JKU Linz . His research focus is the use of technology in math classes.
