Markus Marterbauer (born February 26, 1965 in Uppsala , Sweden) is an Austrian economist.

Life

After several years as a university assistant at the Institute for Economic Theory and Policy of the Vienna University of Economics and Business , Marterbauer moved to the post of economic consultant at the Austrian Institute for Economic Research (WIFO), Vienna. In 2000 he completed a research stay at the Economics Department of York University in Toronto / Canada. Since 2011 he has succeeded Günther Chaloupek as head of the economics and statistics department at the Vienna Chamber of Labor . Marterbauer's numerous publications deal primarily with budget development and fiscal policy in Austria, with questions of income policy and redistribution, with macroeconomic issues and social democratic economic policy.

Marterbauer is Vice President of the Fiscal Council , an expert on the budget committee of the Austrian National Council and a member of the advisory board for economic and social issues . Since July 2013, he has been chairman of the Dr. Benedikt Kautsky .
