Markus Pfefferle

Markus Pfefferle (* 1964 in Baden ) is a former German skier .

Career

Markus Pfefferle comes from Baden. At the age of 17 he suffered a serious moped accident that left one of his arms partially paralyzed. In the field of alpine skiing, he trained both downhill skiing and slalom disciplines. With the German Alpine Disabled Sports National Team, he participated in both the World Championships and the Paralympic Winter Games. He won numerous Olympic medals in downhill skiing, slalom and giant slalom, and in superski.

At the 1988 Winter Paralympics , he was Olympic champion in downhill skiing in the LW 6/8 group and won a gold medal. He also finished second in the giant slalom and thus won a silver medal.

At the 1992 Winter Paralympics he won three silver medals, one each in the downhill, in the giant slalom and in the slalom.

At the 1998 Winter Paralympics , he won four medals, three silver and one bronze medal in the alpine disciplines. He won silver in downhill, giant slalom and super-ski, while he took bronze in slalom.

For winning a medal at the 1992 Winter Paralympics, Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker awarded Markus Pfefferle the silver laurel leaf .
