Markus Ritter (English studies)

Markus Ritter (* 1963 in Ahaus ) is a German English specialist , didactic specialist and media scientist .

Markus Ritter studied English and biology for teaching at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster from 1984 to 1989 . He then taught German as a foreign language in Great Britain and Germany until 1991. Back at the University of Münster, a doctoral degree followed until 1994. Ritter's dissertation dealt with the topic of "computers and action-oriented teaching". This was followed by a job as a publishing editor for educational software in Berlin until 1997. Since 1997 Ritter has continued his academic career at the University of Siegen , where he became a research assistant for foreign language didactics / language teaching research. In 1999 he moved to the University of Duisburg-Essen , where he became a research assistant for English specialist didactics and language practice. Substitute professorships took him to the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg in 2002 and to the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main in 2004/05 . Since October 2007, Ritter has been professor and holder of the chair for didactics of English language and literature (subject didactics) at the Ruhr University in Bochum .
