Markus Stein (born June 8, 1985 in Mannheim ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He has been a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament since 2019 .

Stein attended secondary school and, after graduating from secondary school, from 2001 to 2004 completed training as an administrative clerk at the Bad Kreuznach district administration . From 2004 to 2008 he was a clerk at the waste management company (AWB) and acquired the technical college entrance qualification from 2006 in 2008 as part of a part-time schooling at the dual vocational college in Bad Kreuznach. This was followed by the preparatory service for the civil service career in the higher non-technical service (today: 3rd entry office) and a degree in administrative management (FH) . From 2011 to 2012 he was deputy head of the district treasury, from 2012 to 2018 clerk in municipal supervision and from 2018 to 2019 administrative head of the health department of the Bad Kreuznach district administration. He was also involved in the staff representation there and was deputy chairman of the staff council from 2013 to 2019.

Since March 1, 2019, Markus Stein has been a professional politician as a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament in the constituency of Kirn / Bad Sobernheim and a member of the SPD state parliamentary group. He moved up as a B candidate (substitute applicant) for the resigned MP Denis Alt , who has been State Secretary in the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry for Science, Further Education and Culture since the same day .

politics

Stein has been a member of the SPD since 2002 and chairman of the SPD local association Am Soonwald since 2019. Since June 21, 2019 he has been chairman of the Rüdesheim SPD community association.

The association council Rudesheim belongs to Stone for the Rhineland-Palatinate municipal election, 2014.

On March 1, 2019 , he moved into the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament as a replacement for Denis Alt. In parliament he is a member of the Committee on Family, Youth, Integration and Consumer Protection and the Committee on Equality and the Advancement of Women.

Volunteering

Markus Stein volunteers in several local associations and initiatives. Since 2001 he has been an active member of the volunteer fire brigade of the community of Rüdesheim (Winterbach unit). He is also chairman of the Winterbach Soonwald eV fire brigade support association

In 2017 he started the voluntary initiative Freifunk Soonwald (Communitiy Freifunk Südwest eV) together with several friends and thus takes care of the spread of free and freely accessible WiFi in the region.

Stein is also active in the "Winterbacher Brunnebutzer" association and has been involved in fasting nights in the Elferrat and on the stage for many years.
