Markus "Mac" Tanner (born January 15, 1954 ) is a former Swiss football player .

Career as a player

In the 1973/74 season he made his debut with FC Basel in the former National League A . "Mac" Tanner played eight years for FC Basel between 1973 and 1981, where he celebrated two championship titles in the 1976/77 and 1979/80 seasons and won the Swiss Cup once in 1975 . He played 270 games for FC Basel and scored 48 goals.

In the summer of 1981 "Mac" Tanner moved to FC Luzern, where he played until 1985.

From 1985 he still played for FC Zurich and SC Kriens. In the summer of 1987 "Mac" Tanner ended his career.

National team

Tanner completed ten international matches for the Swiss national team between 1978 and 1981 and scored one goal.
