In addition, he was able to achieve his first goal at this level in 49 missions in the first team that played in the 1st League South (the second highest German division) and contribute another template.

From 1999 to 2002 he played permanently in the first team. He brought it to 162 games with 4 goals and 19 points. Last year he had 129 minutes on the bench.

In the summer of 2002 he changed clubs and joined the EC Heilbronn . For the Falcons he played 55 games with 2 goals and 10 points. And again, 91 penalty minutes demonstrated a strong physical presence. In the following season he played 55 games including the relegation round, in which he came to 6 templates and again 89 penalty minutes. But the team finally got relegated to the league and so he changed clubs. He joined the BSchC Preussen in Berlin, which also played in the third division. Here he was able to achieve 2 goals and 13 points in 37 appearances. In addition, 68 penalty minutes adorn his statistics.

For the Krefeld Penguins , the strong training camp qualified him for a monthly contract before the 2005/06 season . The left-handed shooter finally played 52 DEL games for the penguins.

In the 2006/07 season he played for the Lausitzer Füchse in the 2nd Bundesliga . There he achieved the not quite honorable title of the league's "bad boy". In a total of 55 games he sat in the cool box for 178 minutes and thus took first place in the penalty times rating. Apart from that, Markus Witting, with 16 scorer points and convincing performances in the play-down games, made a significant contribution to the fact that the Lausitzer Füchse were able to secure the league against the much stronger Dresden Ice Lions . From the 2007/08 season he was in the squad of the Blue Lions Leipzig from the league . For the 2010/11 season he moved to ERC Sonthofen in the Bavarian Ice Hockey League . With the Bulls he was able to win the championship this season. In 2013 he ended his career in Sonthofen.
