Chapel of St. Markus in Stubenbach

The Markuskapelle is a small path chapel in the Stubenbach district of the municipality of Lech in the Vorarlberg district of Bludenz . The 17th-century chapel is the holy Markus inaugurated . It is a listed building .

Location description

The chapel stands at the end of Lech in the Stubenbach district in the direction of Warth across the stream.

Architecture and equipment

The chapel is a solid brick building. It is a rectangular building with four slug pane windows . Above it is a steep gable roof.

Above the church there is a wooden coffered ceiling that dates from the time it was built.

Furnishing

The small altar with twisted columns dates from the construction period. The figures were not added until around 40 to 60 years later. The figurative decoration consists of a well-carved figure of Mary with a baby Jesus. The second figure represents St. Anthony of Padua , the third St. Theodul . The stations of the cross are farm work from the beginning of the 19th century.
