Marlies Heinz

Marlies Heinz (* 1956 ) is a German archaeologist from the Middle East .

Heinz studied from 1981 to 1989 in Freiburg, London, Berlin and Saarbruecken Near Eastern Archeology, Ancient Near Eastern Studies and Prehistory , while in Freiburg the conclusion of the 1985 Master of Arts acquired and 1989 in Saarbrücken to Dr. phil. received his doctorate. In 1994 she completed her habilitation at the Free University of Berlin , and since 1995 she has been a professor at the University of Freiburg .

Heinz's research focus is in Lebanon , where she and Karin Bartl led an excavation at the German Archaeological Institute, Damascus station in Beirut ; she also leads her own excavation on Tell Kāmid el-Lōz .

Heinz has been a member of the citizens' initiative Pro Culture Capital Freiburg since 2011 .
