The Marmolejo is a 6,108 meter high mountain in the Andes , the summit of which is on the border between Argentina and Chile . Eighty kilometers southeast of Santiago de Chile , to the east of the El Morado natural monument and north of the still active San José volcano , it is the world's southernmost six-thousander. The mountain is a no longer active stratovolcano from the Pleistocene period .
