The Maro or Merauke is a river in western New Guinea , in the Merauke administrative district in the Indonesian province of Papua . It rises near the border with Papua New Guinea . From there it flows to the southwest and flows into the Arafura Sea at Merauke . Its total length is 207 km. The Maro borders on the north side of the Wasur National Park . The Obat (Oba) flows into him.

At the lower reaches of the Maro, the Jee-anim and Marind-anim territories border each other.
