Maros is an Indonesian city in the South Sulawesi Province , northeast of Makassar . It is the capital of the Maros administrative district .

economy

The Indonesian Cereals Research Institute, a division of the Indonesian Agency for Agriculture Research and Development, is located in Maros City.

In 2012, the regional cement producer PT Semen Bosowa Maros began building a new cement clinker line with a planned cost of more than 300 million US dollars. The clinker production line is intended to help the company meet the growing demand for building materials in this region.

Attractions

Near the town of Maros there is a prehistoric cave that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site .
