Marpissa is a spider species from the family of the jumping spider (Salticidae) and contains 54 species . (As of December 2016)

description

The species in this genus are between 4 and 12 millimeters in size. They often have a noticeably elongated body, with the front body ( prosoma ) being significantly longer than it is wide. This is flattened on the top and has parallel side edges. The legs of the first pair of legs are significantly longer and stronger than the rest.
