Earl of Drogheda is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Ireland .

The Earls' family seat was Moore Abbey near Monasterevin in County Kildare .

Award, subordinate and other titles

The title was created on June 14, 1661 for Henry Moore, 3rd Viscount Moore . He had inherited the titles Viscount Moore , of Drogheda, and Baron Moore , of Mellefont in the County of Louth , from his father in 1643 , which were bestowed on his grandfather on February 7, 1621 and July 20, 1616 in Peerage of Ireland .

The 6th Earl became Marquess of Drogheda on July 5, 1791 in the Peerage of Ireland and on January 17, 1801 in the Peerage of the United Kingdom to Baron Moore , of Moore Place in the County of Kent . These two titles expired with the death of the 3rd Marquess in 1892.

The 10th Earl was given the title Baron Moore , of Cobham in the County of Surrey on January 30, 1954 in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
